You can’t blame Regal Entertainment for wanting the eternally handsome John Prats to go gay again in Regal’s newest comedy confection, Manay Po! John turned in such a hilarious performance as closet gay Nixon in Ako Legal Wife: Mano Po 4 that executive producer Lily Monteverde and director Joel Lamangan cast Prats as Manay Po!’s beauty queen-wannabe… while he was still in the Pinoy Big Brother house!

In Manay Po!, which opens May 31 st, John plays a confident gay who sees himself as a pretty woman, one who has no qualms about shaving his legs and wearing a female swimsuit to win a beauty pageant.

“I was only partly gay in Ako Legal Wife,” laughs John. “It was only in the later part of the film that my character admitted he was gay. In Manay Po!, I’m out and out gay…outspoken, outlandish, and out to fight for my man!”

Producer Lily Monteverde isn’t worried that casting John in another gay role could harm the actor’s amazing career. “John is so cute playing a gay son that I just had to put him in Manay Po,” reveals Mother Lily. “In all my movies, I have at least one actor who I consider my lucky charm. In Manay Po!, John is it.”

Direk Joel Lamangan agrees. “John is so likeable as Orson,” says the award-winning actor’s director. “If we had cast a less skillful actor in the role of Orson, the character would have become suplada and mataray. With John Prats, even though he’s clawing at a girl for stealing his crush, or teaching his little brother how to shave his legs, you still like him. It is very important to the movie that the audience love all the characters who play Cherry Pie Picache’s sons, and John gave Orson that likeability instantly.”

You’ll like John Prats even more if you meet him and the rest of the cast of Manay Po! on their cross-country Mall Tours. Catch John, Polo Ravales, Jiro Manio, Luis Alandy, Christian Vazquez, Mike Tan, Cherry Pie Picache and many others at the following malls at these dates: May 19, SM Fairview; May 20, SM South Mall; May 21, SM Molino; May 26, SM Centerpoint; May 28, SM Sucat; June 2, Robinsons MetroEast.

And don’t miss Manay Po!’s star-studded premiere night, to be held on Monday, May 29 7pm at SM Megamall Cinema 10. Attendees are warned about trying to upstage John Prats, who may just get into a catfight with anyone who tries to outshine him.

Don’t miss Manay Po!, the wackiest, funniest movie of the year! It’s fun for the whole family beginning May 31 st at selected cinemas nationwide!
