John Prats says his role as a young man in the “Someone You Love” episode of “Your Song” who gets attracted with an older woman, played by Aiko Melendez, is something he can really identify with. “There was a time kasi na mas attracted talaga ako sa older women,” he says. “Parang story nina Demi Moore at Ashton Kutcher, di ba? As a matter of fact, as I was growing up, si Aiko talaga ang crush ko sa batch nila. I was just about 10 years old nang magkasama kami sa ‘Batang X’ at gandang-ganda na ako sa kanya noon pa. Na-starstruck nga ako sa kanya noon, e. At hanggang ngayon, di ba, walang kupas ang beauty niya?”

Because of his crush for her then, he got nervous when he was told they’d have a love scene in the story. “Siyempre, respetado siya dahil magaling siya at nanalo na ng awards, kaya I told myself I have to give my best in our scenes together. Hindi lang sa love scene kundi mas lalo na sa dramatic scenes namin. Ayoko namang mapag-iwanan niya ako sa eksena. Pero na-take three pa rin ako sa love scene namin kasi ninerbiyos ako.”

Has he ever tried wooing an older woman in real life? “No, natakot ako. There was a time na I was so attracted kay Joyce Jimenez, but I never got the nerve to tell her na liligawan ko siya. Ayan ngayon, ikinasal na pala.”

So how is it working with Aiko in “Your Song”? “Hindi siya mahirap makatrabaho as she’s so friendly, very sweet pa kaya maganda ang bonding namin, pati ang co-stars naming si Christian Vasquez na siyang boyfriend ni Aiko at si Krista Ranillo who plays my girlfriend naman.”

John says he’s happy he didn’t push through with his plan to leave ABS and move to GMA-7. “Heto nga, binigyan na nila ako ng magandang project and after this, I’m doing ‘Tiny Tony’ sa ‘Komiks Presents’ at meron pa raw akong gagawing isang comedy with Ai Ai de las Alas. It does pay to be loyal, di ba?”
