Hindi ako magde-date ng isang babae kung sa tingin ko hindi pa siya. Hindi ako nagsasayang ng oras.” ABS-CBN.com caught up with John during the cast pictorial for Komiks presents Mars Ravelo’s Tiny Tony. While he and Shaina have been exclusively dating for almost a year now, he denied that he has already proposed to the young star. “Propose? I don’t think so. Parang napakalaki naman nung proposal. It’s too early, she’s only 19 and I’m just 24 so it’s a long way to go. Kung ganoong level na ang papasukin ko gusto ko prepared na ako sa lahat, financially, emotionally, etc. We’re just enjoying each other’s company at doon lang muna kami,” he explained. And if ever he pops the question, he wants it to be special. “Dream proposal ko kasi sa Paris para talagang romantic. Gusto ko sana isang beses lang ako magpo-propose sa buong buhay ko so I want it to be big. I want it to be memorable for me and my partner.” If they could have it their way, John and Shaina would rather keep their relationship a private matter. But given how showbiz works, John has decided to go on record to stop further speculations from arising. “I want to keep things personal. I don’t want din kasi people to think na I’m using her or she’s using me. Walang ganun. Gusto ko na mag-grow ako sa field ko, at ganun din siya kaya wala kaming plano na maging love team kami. ‘Yung sa amin is something personal.” Now more mature and much wiser, John said that he is really serious about Shaina. “I’m willing to wait for her. I’m young pero tingin ko napagdaanan ko na lahat. After namin mag-break ni Heart (Evangelista) ‘yung mga typical na pinagdadaanan ng mga lalaki na enjoy ko na. When you’re a teenager, you want to prove something to yourself. ‘yung iba, ‘Pare ang dami kong chicks!’ Graduate na ako dun. Nasa stage na ako na I’m happy sa isang babae. Wala na akong ibang mahihilang pa sa kanya.
