John Prats on his relationship with Shaina Magdayao: ‘Basta alam ng tao na happy kami’ By: Rachelle Siazon   From: ABS-CBN website [April 14, 2009] Even though John Prats and Shaina Magdayao haven’t really revealed the real score between them, many people have assumed that they are now beyond the exclusively dating stage. There’s also not much pressure for them to explain what they have at the moment since they are not a love team after all. “Si Shaina talaga very private na tao. Kami naman we just want to keep things private, na ganon lang. Basta alam ng tao na happy kami, yun lang importante dun. Kung ano mang meron kami hindi naman yun career or work-related. Kumbaga it’s a personal thing, it’s a personal matter. So kung ano man yun, we’re so blessed na meron kami at successful kami sa ginagawa namin,” John told ABS-CBN.com. Having individual showbiz careers is also an advantage for them since they both have room for growth without depending on each other’s success. “And I’m happy also na hindi naman namin kailangang mag-love team o ano. I am happy na meron siyang sarili niyang work and nagu-grow siya sa work niya na yun (being cast in dramatic soaps) and ako rin I have my own style of work (more on comedy). At least we’re growing individually so I am happy,” he stressed. It will take a while before their respective fans will see them together in Mars Ravelo’s Sanlakas as the creative team behind the project is still working on the script. “Well kasi yung script mahirap and it’s a tribute to Mars Ravelo so kailangan big yung project. Ayaw naman nila sumugal ng half-baked. So they’re doing their best para mapaganda pa yung show. Continuous pa rin yun, wala naman silang sinabi na cancelled na yung show,” said the 25-year-old actor who’s set to join the new season of Banana Split starting Saturday, April 18. John also shared that he is happy about Shaina getting a starring role in ABS-CBN’s latest TV offering, Kambal Sa Uma. “She's really excited about it and career naman yun ‘pag gumawa eh. Yun lang. Sabi naman niya gagawin niya yung best niya for the show. And inspired siya kasi makakasama niya si Ms. Rio Locsin dahil nakakasama sila dati [sa Marinella] and sobrang bait ni Ms. Rio kaya love niya yung show. Nakita ko rin yung mga plugs so ako kinongratulate ko din naman siya and I am happy for her dahil maganda yung project. I am looking forward to seeing the show,” he exclaimed. Since they are both busy with work nowadays, John shared that they barely have time to go out of town this summer. “Siyempre masarap mag-plan pero ang maganda sa amin, we understand kung anong trabaho na meron kami and siya kasi marami siyang gagawin ngayon and ako rin, so eksakto. Tulad nitong Holy Week, hindi siya makaalis kasi si Ate Vina (Morales) due date na nang pregnancy niya this month. Gano’n naman kami. I respect her family, I have my own family also, so pagka-Holy Week, kanya-kanya kaming pamilya.” When asked about the fact that his family has approved of Shaina as his future wife, John reiterated that it’s because he is truly lucky to have someone like her in his life. “Well I am happy na gano’n yung acceptance sa kanya kasi matagal na kami magkakasama, bata pa lang kami magkakilala na kami. Wala naman kasing masamang tinapay kay Shaina, napakabait na tao talaga, and wala kang masasabing masama eh. So I am just blessed na nandiyan siya.”
