John Prats is now back at work after suffering dengue fever.

Prats, a mainstay of the gag show “Banana Split” and “ASAP XV,” spent 5 days in a hospital where he was rushed after suffering a high fever for 4 days. During those 5 days, Prats’s platelet count dropped to 50 (the normal is 140).

The actor-dancer—who’s now sporting cropped hair and the beginnings of a beard—showed us his right arm, which was bruised from the needle marks. Blood samples were taken 2 to 3 times a day during his confinement at Medical City Hospital.

He missed two tapings of “Banana Split” and one live airing of “ASAP XV.” His first day back at work was last Sunday, when he played a cameo role in a music video for an album being produced by good friend Sam Milby.

Milby was one of the celebrities who came to visit Prats in the hospital. “Banana Split” co-star Angelica Panganiban also visited.

During his confinement in the hospital, his mother Alma and sister Camille watched over him.

“Okay na ako,” said Prats, who started rehearsing for “ASAP XV” on Friday. “Although sabi ng doktor, bawal pa din magpuyat.”

No awkwardness

Going back to “ASAP XV” on Sunday will mean running into former girlfriend Shaina Magdayao, who’s also a regular on the show.

Isn’t there any awkwardness between them?

“Actually, we don’t see each other that much,” he said. “Besides, hindi naman kami bata para hindi magpansinan or para mag-iwasan kung magkita nga.”

According to Prats, even John Lloyd Cruz says hello to him whenever they bump into each other on the show. Cruz is part of The Kanto Boys (which also includes Luis Manzano, Vhong Navarro and Billy Crawford), while Prats is part of the Supahdance Crew.

While Magdayao has moved on and is happy with Cruz, Prats is not similarly inclined. The two of them broke up in November 2009. It took Prats about 3 months to recover with the help of family and friends.

Right now, Prats isn’t actively putting himself out there. “I’m so lazy. Wala ako sa mood to date,” said the now 26-year-old actor. “I’m enjoying my own time.”

But Prats admitted that he is looking to settle down. In fact, he has already started building his future family’s home. He thought Magdayao would be the girl he would marry, but it didn’t work out.

Prats hopes to settle down by the age of 30. If he does get into a relationship now, he’ll be spending the next 4 years really getting to know this person.

“I just really want to take my time,” finished Prats.
