John Prats on his breakup with Shaina Magdayao: ‘We needed some space’ By: Bernie Franco   From: abs-cbn.com [February 17, 2010] John Prats opened up about his breakup with Shaina Magdayao in the Saturday (February 13) episode of Banana Split, which he said would be his first and last interview about the issue. Despite the comedic nature of the show, John addressed the issue on his weekly gag show to settle the many persistent questions about the split. The actor explained on the show’s NNNN (spoof of SNN) portion that he was also deeply hurt by the breakup, especially because he and Shaina loved each other. “Masakit siyempre. Masakit [kasi] hindi biro ‘yung relasyon na ‘yon. Hindi talaga siya ordinary relationship and alam naman n’ya na alam ko kung paano niya ako minahal at alam niya kung paano ko siya minahal.” John declined to answer Krizzy’s (portrayed by Angelica Panganiban) question about who broke up with whom. “Actually on that part, siguro hayaan na lang natin. Respect ko rin sa kanya between the two of us,” he explained. The actor was also elusive when asked about claims that it was Shaina who asked for the separation. “Siguro for quite some time, we needed some space and hanggang sa heto kami ngayon.” He also confirmed Shaina’s statement in her previous interviews that there was no third party involved in their split. “Walang third party ang involved dun sa breakup na nangyari sa amin. Siguro ganun lang talaga, may mga relasyon lang na may happy ending parang fairy tales [at] may mga relasyon na hindi talaga para sa isa’t isa.” John also said that he is now doing okay because of a strong support group. “I have my family, I have my career, I have my friends, I have my supporters. Parang wala namang rason para malungkot ako and I have Deedee (his new car’s name) right now. Parang happy ako ngayon and wala akong ia-ask for more,” he concluded.
