John Prats not just you typical boy-next-door!
With his handsome looks and considerable talents, John Prats didn't really find it hard to penetrate show business. An original ABS-CBN Talent Center baby, he grew up before the eyes fo the viewing public with his participation and guestings in the Star Network's staple of shows all these years. And with all the said exposures, he gradually developed into a good actor, another positive factor which enhanced his star persona. Now, many opine that he's the next Aga Muhlach. Aside from their physical resemblance, the public observes the great amount of hard work and dedication he gives to his still growing career, reminiscent of Aga's early days in the 'biz. How does he feel about it? "Of course, I'm flattered. Siyempre, he's Aga Muhlach, Idol 'ko 'yon 'no! I worked with him in a lot of projects na. We were together in Da Body En Da Guard and I played his younger brother in Naranig Mo Na Ba Ang L8est?, remember, I was a witness to his professionalism. No wonder he reached his present status so who wouldn't want to be like him?" "Pressured? Not actually. There will only be one Aga and I wish I can accomplish even half of what he has achieved in the industry. I'm happy na when people say I'm following his footsteps. Of course, I'm doing my best to also carve my niche in the business," John wittingly explains when interviewed recently. Speaking of doing his best, the appealing heartthrob received good reviews for his performance in the Star Cinema hit Jologs. He's one of the cast who were singled out to have given competent acting in the said Gilbert Perez opus. "Well, when I heard about it, I felt elated. Doing the role of Ruben wasn't that easy. For one, he's a complex character. He's serious and funny at the same time. It was also a different John that the fans saw on screen. I was deglamourized, not the typical boy-next-door." "The role challenged me. It made me devise a way to make Ruben a generally sympathetic character. It's good the public liked my interpretation of the role. This is the best consolation I got. Even if the film had many stars in it, the public still noticed me. Just like in Trip shown a year ago. I also got positive feedbacks even if it was a smorgasbored project." Currently, he's identified with Heart Evangelista. Many say they have chemistry on screen. They were a riot on Trip, a sweet twosome in the now defunt G-mik and simply 'nakakakilig' in the Sukob Na station ID of ABS-CBN. Now, they're also together in one noodle (Tekki Yakiudon) commercial. Has their working relationship already improved? "Yes! We have rapport now. Unlike when we were just starting, I couldn't understand her. I find her maarte before but now, we've just adjusted to each other already. She's nice naman pala so we get along well. She's a prefessional co-worker. After doing Trip, I began to discover the real her. Nagkaroon kami ng bonding," says the dashing young actor. Is it true he plans to court Heart off cam? "You know, Heart's a nice girl, she's pretty and sweet but I guess, we're better off as friends. We're a loveteam so, we have to be sweet in front of the camera. Besides, my concentration now is focused on my career." How about his alleged crush on Mega daughter KC Concepcion? Many are still curious about its development specially now that international teen singer Billy Joe Crawford is also said to be close to the lovely lass. "Actually, my crush on her is slowly fizzling out. Not for anything but parang nawala na kasi 'yung mystery sa kanya, eh. Now, you see her on billboards, magazine covers, etc. Then, there are also numerous guys who openly express their admiration on her so, parang nababawasan. Unlike before that whenever I see her face on TV, I really get tongue-tied." "Regarding Billy Joe, if he's courting her, it's just fine with me. I think they'll make a gorgeous pair!" John said in closing. |
