John Prats is happy that Shaina Magdayao is now more vocal about their relationship By: Napoleon Quintos   From: ABS-CBN website [January 06, 2009] Although it’s public knowledge that John Prats and Shaina Magdayao have been “exclusively dating” for quite some time, John has been the only one who has voiced out about any details of their relationship. But during the press conference of her new show Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo’s Dragonna, Shaina managed to reveal that she and the actor are enjoying each other’s company, but aren’t in any rush for a serious commitment. When ABS-CBN.com asked John during the press conference of PareKoy about this rare revelation from Shaina, the actor admitted he was happy that Shaina was now more comfortable talking about him in public. “Nakaka-flatter. Ako naman kung kailan ready ‘yung babae magkwento nandun lang akong nakasuporta. I don’t want to force her na gumawa ng kung ano. Now that she’s more comfortable, masaya ako. Siguro kasi I’m okay na rin with her family at wala silang nakikitang negative na nangyayari or masama akong ginagawa. As long as ganun mas happy. Mas okay ako at nafa-flatter ako,” said John. The two have known each other since their days as ABS-CBN child stars, but according to John, they only started dating when they formed the dance group Ultimate Dance 4 with Rayver Cruz and Maja Salvador. John revealed that he and Shaina agreed that they don’t want to be paired on screen as much as possible so as not to create any criticisms about their motives for seeing each other. “Kaya lang naman namin na-decide na as much as possible huwag kami i-love team is para walang masyadong negative na isipin ang mga tao like ginagamit ko siya o ginagamit niya ako. Hindi naman ganun kaya kaming dalawa we’re keeping the relationship private. Pero kung may work, let’s work.” That exception happened when John made a guest appearance in the blockbuster Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat playing Shaina’s suitor. The young actor said that he accepted the role because he knew how fun it would be working again with Direk Wenn Deramas, Ai-Ai de las Alas, and the whole cast. This summer, John and Shaina will work together again in Sanlakas alongside other stars that have played superhero characters in the Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo series. John played the small-but-terrible hero Tiny Tony in the recently concluded installment of the series. The actor however said that there might not be much romantic angle between him as Tiny Tony and Shaina as Dragonna in Sanlakas since the character of Dragonna is forbidden from falling in love. John also revealed what he and Shaina got each other last Christmas. “Regalo ko sa kanya ‘yung malaking picture frame na nakalagay ‘yung photo nung pinicturan ko siya sa dressing room habang nagte-taping kami ngTanging Ina. Ang ganda kasi ng ilaw noon. Pinalakihan ko ‘yung picture at ‘yun ang gift ko sa kanya. Siya naman binigyan niya ako ng Rockband, ‘yung game sa PS3. ‘Yung gitara lang.
