By: --- From: Starstudio Magazine [January 04, 2009] The afternoon timeslot has often been associated with drama shows, either of the Tagalog or Mexican telenovela variety. ABS-CBN plans to change that with the program Parekoy, a comedy that runs for only 30 minutes like American sitcoms instead of the usual hour-long show. The show's creators describe it as a komediserye, something with a "structure of a teleserye , but the feel and look of a sitcom." The series is about the misadventures of friends Joseph, Mario, and Jess (John Prats, Zanjoe Marudo and Jayson Gainza, respectively) and how they think up ingenuous ways to help people in need. A fourth member of their barkada, Ringo, died when they were just teenagers. Ringo's death holds the key to a mystery that will unravel as the story goes along. Think of the show as a daily Palibhasa Lalake with crazy characters and antics, only the show ends in a cliffhanger and not with the stars throwing pails of water at each other. Casting three cute guys was a move to lure the target audience: women. Erwin Aurella of Parekoy explains, "Type kasi ng babae ang mga guwapo at may sense of humor na lalaki." |
